The Boys Spinoff Gen V Image Teases Homelander Connection

A new promotional poster for Gen V provides hints at a connection to The Boys’ Homelander. The second spinoff in Prime Video’s The Boys franchise, following the animated series The Boys Presents: Diabolical, Gen V is set to follow a younger generation of Supes attending Vought International’s Godolkin University School of Crimefighting. While the series is expected to make its streaming debut sometime later this year, an official release date has not yet been announced.

Now, a new Gen V poster released by Comic-Con International’s official Twitter account has provided another direct link to the franchise’s flagship series by teasing a connection to Antony Starr’s Homelander.

Featuring the bronze statue of Homelander first glimpsed in the Gen V trailer, the sculpture’s head appears to have been vaporized, leaving a wisp of smoke where his face once would have been. It is likely this action is a subtle reference to Patrick Schwarzenegger’s Gen V character Golden Boy, who is said to possess pyrokinetic powers.

Will Golden Boy Be Gen V’s Own Version Of Homelander?

Set within the same world as The Boys, the first season of Gen V will see several direct connections to the series which spawned it. Not only will the show focus on the G-Men first mentioned in The Boys season 1, but it will also feature appearances from A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) and Vought CEO Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie). Jensen Ackles has also revealed that his The Boys season 3 character Soldier Boy will also make a brief cameo appearance.

However, contrary to what this latest poster might suggest, Starr’s Homelander is not expected to show up throughout Gen V season 1. Instead, it is far more likely that this new image hints at a commonality between Vought’s number one Supe and one of Gen V’s newest characters. Played by the son of the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger, Golden Boy is a parody of The Fantastic Four’s Human Torch and is considered to be the star pupil of Godolkin University.

As the University’s most popular student, Golden Boy probably has much in common with the image-obsessed Homelander. Moreover, as an up-and-coming Supe moving through the ranks of an official Vought college, Schwarzenegger’s character likely has his own designs to eventually equal or even supplant Starr’s own Supe in the public eye. Whether Golden Boy will also share Homelander’s sociopathic tendencies remains to be seen, but hopefully it will not be too much longer before audiences see for themselves when Gen V finally arrives.
