How to Increase Jewel Crafting Level

Jewels and Gems play a big part in building a character within Diablo IV, with players having the ability to increase the level at which they craft precious stones into materials more suited to place in gear slots. The most powerful Gems can only be made once players boost their crafting level enough with any of their characters. Although players must be mindful of which Jewels become available as they level up, all Gems provide some benefit.

Players may start collecting Jewels or Gems early on in Diablo 4, but they can only upgrade their crafting level once they unlock the Jeweler at level 20. This NPC can provide players with evolved versions of Gems that provide larger buffs if enough materials are spent along with Gold. Gems found in Sanctuary are Chipped but may be upgraded into Crude and eventually full Jewels, Flawless Gems, and Royal Gems, encouraging players to farm XP to have the crafting for these materials.

How to Craft Better Jewels in Diablo 4

Diablo 4 Gem Crafting with Flawless Emerald Jewel from Jeweler Vendor

The crafting level for Jewels increases once players reach certain levels with their characters. Once a character gets to level 20, level 40, level 50, and level 60, any Jeweler has new crafting options that let players create stronger Gems from pieces found while exploring. Caches from side quests, interactable objects on the map, and dungeons with the best rewards in Diablo 4 almost always have some Gems players can collect for crafting.

Gem Slots may always be added to gear through a Jeweler by spending a large amount of Gold, but only if players have a special material called Scattered Prisms in Diablo 4. While these Prisms are extremely rare, those who have leveled up enough with a Jeweler may easily remove Gems from existing slots on gear. Players can find seven different Jewel types, each with effects that are made stronger as a player’s crafting level grows.

As of this time of writing, there has been evidence of even more Gem types existing with a Jeweler at even higher character levels like level 70 and beyond. However, anyone who has chosen to increase their crafting level in Diablo IV can customize their characters even further with stronger Gems that could complement powerful Legendary gear.
