Cast, Story & Everything We Know

Warning: This post contains spoilers for Evil season 3Evil season 3 concluded with a cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers — and the latest Evil season 4 updates, including when the story will pick up again to resolve the season 3 ending, already look promising. David Acosta (Mike Colter), Kristen Bouchard (Katja Herbers), and Ben Shakir (Aasif Mandvi) continued to investigate cases passed down by the church, but things got more spooky and a bit too real than perhaps any of them may have imagined they would at the start of season 3. With such a big twist and shocker waiting for Kristen at the end of the season 3 finale, Evil has a lot to unpack in season 4.

One of the ongoing plot threads of the positively reviewed Evil has circled RMS Fertility, and Kristen spent much of season 3 in search of her missing egg, hiring a lawyer to sue the clinic and locate its whereabouts. Kristen was in for a surprise when she not only discovered that her egg was used by Leland and implanted in another woman, but that her mother, Sheryl, was still working with him. It’s always interesting to think about what showrunners and co-creators Robert and Michelle King have planned next. With Evil season 3 setting up a killer story, here’s all the Evil season 4 news so far.

The Latest Evil Season 4 News

Kristen in bed in Evil season 4

The most recent Evil season 4 updates are brand-new screenshots of the upcoming series (via Entertainment Weekly), which hint at the scariest season yet. One first-look image from Evil season 4 reveals Kristen protecting herself from something with an ax. Another sees Kristen, David, and Ben exploring a lake area with flashlights. However, the spookiest image of all is a silhouette of Kristen in bed, and she looks like she very well could be possessed. That single image promises so many things from Evil season 4, including that it’ll be as creepy as ever, it’ll be full of surprises, and that it will raise the bar when it comes to cinematography for the show.

While they don’t go into too much detail about the actual Evil season 4 story, in the Entertainment Weekly interview, King revealed that they have been focusing just as much on the non-horror aspects. The co-creator explained, “The Omen and The Antichrist have thunderclouds and earthquakes and the horsemen of the apocalypse. But it’s a baby — and babies are nightmare enough. You don’t need lightning and thunder and all that. Babies vomit on their own!” Based on King’s comments, most of the scares will come from moments in the series that aren’t necessarily demonic, hinting at more psychological scares.

Evil Season 4 Is Confirmed

Audiences are in luck because the season 3 cliffhanger won’t be left unresolved for long. Evil was renewed for season 4 in July 2022, halfway through the horror show’s third season. Evil season 4 is confirmed, but that’s of little surprise considering Evil continues to be a top-ranking original series for Paramount+ (the show originally aired on CBS during season 1 before making the move over to the streamer). The early Evil season 4 renewal confirmed by Paramount+ is also a relief because Evil’s season finale cliffhangers are huge shockers every time, and knowing there will definitely be more to come is great news.

Evil Season 4 Release Date Prediction

The Evil season 4 release date was originally set for June 2023, with the conclusion arriving in August. Paramount+ execs have confirmed Evil season 4 is set to debut in summer 2023, but the exact date is yet to be determined. Like season 3, Evil season 4 will consist of ten episodes that will air weekly, with the Kings returning to write. With season 4 confirmed to release next summer, fans should keep an eye out for the first trailer to drop in spring 2023.

However, Evil season 4 production has been delayed because of the Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) strike. While Evil season 4 has been filming for a few months now, a small group of picketers showed up to protest outside the set for six hours. After this happened, Evil season 4 filming shut down after they showed up. Since no one would cross the picket lines, the show wanted to outlast the protestors, but it didn’t happen, which led to the shutdown of filming. There was also a Twitter post about this, with Starlee Kine saying the producers were angry and kept the crew there, but filming never recommenced.

This isn’t the only show that was attempting to continue to film during the strike. Both The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power and Marvel’s Wonder Man kept their filming schedules going. While Rings of Power successfully kept filming, protestors shut down the Wonder Man shoot much like they did Evil. However, some studios are attempting to strong-arm writer-hyphenates into returning to work to do their other jobs or risk losing their pay completely. The one thing this does mean for fans of Evil is that the release date might not be as soon as they might have hoped, at least while shooting is shut down.

Evil Season 4 Cast

Within minutes of its renewal, all of the main Evil season 4 cast members announced their involvement in the upcoming installment via social media. This means that Mike Colter (David Acosta), Katja Herbers (Kristen Bouchard), Aasif Mandvi (Ben Shakir), and Kurt Fuller (Kurt Boggs) will be returning for the next chapter of the series. Unfortunately, there is no other Evil season 4 cast news, but actors Michael Emerson (Leland), Christine Lahti (Sheryl), Brooklyn Shuck (Lynn), and Skylar Gray (Lila) have all been promoting season 3 via their own social media. In addition, Leland actor Michael Emerson has teased that season 4 could be the best yet.

Evil Season 4 Story Details

The official synopsis for Evil season 4 has not been revealed yet, but it’s expected it will pick up where season 3 left off. Evil has been circling RMS Fertility and the issue of Kristen’s missing egg for a while now. The season 3 finale paid off some of that storyline by finally revealing what happened to it. With such a huge and game-changing cliffhanger, Evil season 4 will surely explore what Leland’s actions mean for Kristen. She had a dream about a demon baby in season 3 and, though she was terrified of it, she still nursed and took care of it.

It’s possible Kristen, who will no doubt be infuriated and uneasy, will still find it in her to care for this child regardless of Leland’s devious plotting. While Kristen contends with this strange situation, David will have to figure out what the message “38 days, woe to Babylon” means. The priest will also try to keep the Kristen demon at bay, all while continuing to figure out Grace’s visions and how it connects to the map of demonic houses. There is still so much left to uncover and explore after the Evil season 3 ending, but Evil season 4 will surely rise to the challenge.

Another of the more exciting Evil season 4 updates comes from star Mike Colter, who wants to let audiences know what could be in store for David Acosta this season. In an interview with Inverse, Colter mainly talked about his new movie Plane but also revealed some interesting tidbits about what Acosta is up against in Evil. Colter mentioned that some of the upcoming cases in the series cover ground that he’s “never considered” before, with the actor saying, “But it’s definitely a challenge and also something that I look forward to, and I’m enlightened every time we crack open the script. It’s gonna be fun.”

Unfortunately, the latest Evil season 4 updates don’t include a trailer. Paramount+ officials have revealed that promotional material for Evil season 4 will become available in either April or early May of 2023, closer to the Evil season 4 release date. Therefore, an Evil season 4 trailer should be available to view very soon.
